Marie (LuLu) Maita passed away August 5, 2017. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 19, 1930. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Philip Maita and loving parents Filomena (DiBenedetto) and Anthony Leonetti, brother John Leonetti (Mary) and son-in-law Thomas Mistretta. Marie Maita is survived by her three adoring daughters, Linda Mistretta, Lisa Cabrales (Edgar), Laura Behr (Alan), and her sister Dorothy Illuzzi. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Nicole, Krista, Cristian, Jordan, Heather, and Sandi. She also leaves behind her sweet great grandchildren Victor, Olivia, Thomas, Joseph, Grace, Anthony and Keaton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins who meant the world to her. After attending high school she worked at Western Union in New York City. She married the love of her life, Philip, on October 7th, 1950 and they continued to live in Brooklyn, New York until 1998 when they moved to Massapequa, New York. "LuLu" was the nickname given to her at birth and followed her throughout her adult life. In later years her daughters and granddaughters affectionately called her "Queen", since they loved doting on her. She was full of life, and was able to care for herself, travel and enjoy her family to the fullest. She had a smile for everyone she met and always enjoyed a good laugh and a good cup of coffee. Everyone who knew her loved her dearly and will miss her deeply.
