Marion Knudson, a long-time resident of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

Born in 1925 to Margaret and Harry Martin in Des Moines, Iowa, Marion grew up with deep Midwest roots. As one of seven children, Marion had an unwavering commitment to family, hard work and living life to the fullest. In 1942, Marion met the love of her life, E.C. "Knute" Knudson, from Portland, Oregon while Knute attended military training in Iowa. Marion and Knute soon married in San Diego, CA. Marion returned to live with family in Iowa while Knute served in the US Navy during World War II. After the war, they started a family in Des Moines. Marion supported Knute's career with moves to Omaha, Nebraska and eventually to Portland, Oregon where the family settled in Tigard.

Marion was a skilled homemaker, amazing cook and accomplished seamstress. Marion loved fishing, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time at the Oregon Coast (Rockaway Beach was truly her home away from home). After her boys left home, Marion went to work outside the home and served as the phone receptionist for Sears at Washington Square. Marion's dedication to family, faith and community were reflected through endless ways. Marion and Knute were founding members of Lutheran Church of the Master in Omaha, volunteered for the Boy Scouts, delivered Meals on Wheels, were passionate fans of Nebraska football (Go Big Red!), and members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Beaverton. Marion also volunteered as an elections worker in Washington County, helped co-author a cookbook for the Oregon State University Mom's Club (Go Beavs!), and was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross at blood drives throughout the Portland region.

Marion was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, and two of her three sons. She is survived by her son Mark Knudson (Karen) of Milwaukie; grandchildren Celeste Snodgrass (John), Rory Knudson, Nicholas Knudson, Michael Knudson and Kaitlyn Knudson (Caleb); four great-grandchildren; many grand-dogs and great-grand-dogs; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She would want to also acknowledge Angelica Handolesou and Angelica's family, who became an essential part of Marion's extended family for the last nine years of Marion's long and rewarding life.

A graveside service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017, at 1pm.
