Marjorie D. (Casey) Bevilacqua, 88, of West Simsbury, beloved wife of Frank Bevilacqua, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bristol on April 29, 1929, daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (McCarthy) Casey, and was raised there. She was a devoted, stay at home mother to her five children from a previous marriage. She later had a career as a nurse at Waterbury Hospital and as a licensed realtor. Marj enjoyed and appreciated nature and was very active in hiking, canoeing, and skiing. Along with tending to her flowers, she enjoyed observing animals outside her home in West Simsbury, including bears, owls, turkeys and many species of birds. She and her sister, Rita, enjoyed many Elderhostel trips together. Marj was an avid reader, a member of MENSA, and not a Sunday went by without her working the N.Y. Times crossword puzzle. She had an adventurous spirit which was evident during her many trips with her husband, Frank, to France, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, China, Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland as she ventured out to explore the many wonders of these countries. Besides her devoted husband of 36 years, she is survived by her son Jeffrey Parmentier and his wife Debby of Sebec, ME; two daughters Laurie Parmentier of Litchfield and Nancy Parmentier of Falmouth, MA; two sisters Rita Casey of West Simsbury, CT and Jane Olson of Ft. White, FL; her stepchildren Mark Bevilacqua and his wife Harriet of Lakeland, FL; Rhonda L. Gilbert of Granby, Gina M. Beach and her husband Richard and Linda A. Pinard and her husband David both of Windsor. Marj also leaves many memories with her 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons, Kenneth, and most recently, Gregory as well as her two sons-in-law, Daniel Gilbert and Gary Jaroslow. Her family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 10-11 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road, West Simsbury. A Reception will follow the Mass in Father Russell Hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Connecticut Chapter/Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/ct/) or the Connecticut Audubon Society (www.ctaudubon.org). The Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center of Avon is caring for the arrangements.
