Marjorie Jean Knott (nee Freeland) died peacefully, December 9, 2017. She was preceded by her husband, George Carlton Knott (1920-2006).
Marjorie was born April 18, 1922, Dallas, Texas, to George Louie Freeland (1900-1962) and Mary Elizabeth Freeland (1903-1993), the first of four children; Marilyn, George Louie and David.
Marjorie graduated Dallas' Forest Avenue High School, "June, '39 Class". Known by FAHS Principal Wylie A. Parker as "Cyclone Sadie", Marjorie was a Linz Award recipeant '36, '38; Class President '37; Girl Reserves President '38; Orchestra '38; Cheerleader '38; National Honor Society '38; Social Committee '39; High Scholarship '39; Forester staff '39; and Forester Favorite '39.
Marjorie won a scholarship to, and earned her Associates Degree from Hockaday Junior College, class of 1941. She was awarded her diploma by founder and Headmistress Ela Hockaday.
Marjorie owned and operated the gift shop Party Market in North Dallas from the mid-1970s to 80s. She later attained her real estate broker's license.
Marjorie's greatest blessings and joy in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marjorie is survived by her youngest brother, David Freeland; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and John Wacker, son David and daughter-in-law Laura Knott; granddaughters Angela Keener, Ashley (Matt) Albrecht, Whitney West, and Allison (Zac) Nance; and great-granddaughters Chloe Albrecht, and Kayla Nance.
