Marjorie Tate (McDonald) Kelson, 1925-2017

Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on February 10, 2017.

She was born on March 3, 1925, to Edwin Franklin and Florence Morrison Horne Tate, in Richfield, Utah. She graduated from South High School (Salt Lake City) and attended the University of Utah (Salt Lake City). Marge served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission where she babysat the future U.S. Senator from Utah, Orrin Hatch, at her "home away from home" with his family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- something she was always very proud of. She found the perfect job to fulfill her love of music at "The Music Center" (Salt Lake City). She sang in a women's choral group, "The Symphony Singers".

Marge married Russ McDonald and they had seven children: Brent, Norman, Carrie, Stuart, Arla, Monte and Gae; later divorced. She later married [James] Ralph Kelson.

She is survived by six of her seven children: Norman (Sydette) McDonald, Carrie (Tom) Brooks, Stuart McDonald, Arla (Roland) Eysser, Monte (Lisa) McDonald, & Gae Sellers-McDonald; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest child & son, Brent (Linda) McDonald, on July 17, 2010; her six brothers and two sisters; and her two husbands: Russell Thomas McDonald and [James] Ralph Kelson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, 12 noon at the Murray 25th Ward, 160 E. 4600 South, Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held from 11:00-11:45 am prior to services. Interment will be held in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
