Martha "Jean" Lents (nee Colbert) died peacefully in her sleep at home in Sacramento, California at the age of 95. Jean is survived by her children: Steve Lents (Troutdale, Oregon, wife Lois Lents; children, Joseph, Katie, and Matthew), Ann Gibson (Washington, Utah, children, Nicole, Kyle and Amy), Sandy Koster (Sacramento, CA; husband Christian Koster, daughter Emily Koster) and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lents, son Larry Lents, sister Doris Ann Carlisle (nee Colbert), brother George Colbert and grandson Kyle Lesley.

Jean was born on November 5, 1922 in Washington, Indiana to Ray and Elizabeth Colbert (nee Ritter). She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois in 1944 with a degree in nursing and went on to serve in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She met Joseph Lents at Williams Soda Fountain in Washington, Indiana, and in 1945, after the War, she and Joe were married at St. John's Church. Jean loved being a nurse, but the thing Jean wanted most in her life was to start a family. After the couple moved to San Jose, California, Jean and Joe welcomed their first child, Steven Lents, to their family. Over the next twelve years, the couple brought three more children into their home: Ann, Sandy and Larry. They settled with their family in Stockton, California, where they spent over 50 years together. Jean was a loving mom who had a winning attitude and always looked to the positive. Her children remember her as a good cook with an infectious laugh who took great joy in raising her children. Jean described herself as "durable" and wanted her grandchildren to remember that music was the "laughter of the soul."

Jean loved golf and was passionate about Church and family. She was a dedicated member of the Saint Bernadette's Catholic Church in Stockton and volunteered at the Delta Blood Bank and Hospice of San Joaquin.
