Long-time Bryan resident, Martha Freeman Novosad passed on Thursday, November 2nd at Crestview Skilled Nursing Center. Born on June 2, 1924 in Mumford, TX, Martha is the daughter of Ira Vee and Rosa Elliott Freeman, originally from the Edge community. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Albert C. Novosad; an infant son, A.C. Novosad, Jr.; her parents and all 7 siblings. Martha is survived by her children, Diane Novosad Sandlin and Dan Novosad and their spouses, John Sandlin and Tara Novosad. She was a proud grandmother to Graham Sandlin, Autumn Novosad and Hannah Novosad and a doted-upon aunt to a large contingency of nieces and nephews.
Martha worked for many years in the Bryan Independent School District administrative offices as well as various banks in the area. She was also very actively involved in Calvary Baptist Church in Bryan as well as the Wheelock Baptist Church for the several years she and Al lived in that community.
Martha will be laid to rest with a family graveside service at the Wheelock Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dale Wells. A memorial service to celebrate her long life will be held at the Crestview/Arbor Oaks chapel on Tuesday, November 7 at 2:30 pm. - 2505 E. Villa Maria Road. The service will be led by Rev. Gary Adams, Crestview Chaplain. All are invited to attend and visit with family and friends following the service.
