Services for Martha Willis Sanders, 82, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lower Chireno Cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders was born February 15, 1935 in Selma, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Flora (Leggett) and Barney Willis. She passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a longtime resident of Lufkin. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandkids. She was always smiling and loved hummingbirds. She loved to crochet and made gifts each year. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her sons, A. J. Sanders, Jr. and wife Tammy, Michael Sanders and wife Oretha, James "Eric" Sanders and wife Pamela, and Robert Sanders and wife Karen, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; daughters, Anita Grimes and husband Mark of Conroe and Jennifer Frost and husband William of Joaquin; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Debra Lovell and husband Doug of Pocola, Oklahoma, Fetney Rene Bush of Leesville, Louisiana, Ouida Wallace of Leesville, Louisiana and Tina Duhon of Leesville, Louisiana; brother, James Willis and wife Lori of El Dorado, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Sanders; son, James Sanders; 2 grandsons ; brothers, Theron Willis, Noble Willis and Roy Willis; and sister, Carolyn Willis.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Warner, Brian Sanders, Michael Sanders II, Robert Sanders II, David Sanders, Eric Sanders and Cecil Newsom.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
