Martin E. Reed, 91, of Randle, WA, passed away July 20, 2016, peacefully at home with loved ones, after a short illness.
He was born in Clear Lake, WI, March 18, 1925, to Martin W. and Hazel Reed. Upon his graduation from high school, Martin joined the U.S. Army Air Corps (Air Force), where he served in World War II, as a flight navigator. He then, graduated from the University of Montana in 1954, with a degree in forestry. Marty retired in 1985, after a 35 year career with the U.S. Forest Service, with it ending after 27 years in the Randle Ranger District.
A dedicated family man, Marty experienced years of celebration and alike, always there for family through hardships that he always offered positivity and a helping hand. Through time and love, the family has always prevailed with the help of his kindness.
Marty's hobbies were bicycling, jogging, photography, history, flying model airplanes, enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors and wildlife, woodworking, train and flight simulators, genealogy, watching Morton/White Pass football and basketball and his great-grandson, Peyton's youth sports activities.
He is survived by his wife, Ann of almost 70 years; sister, Pat Clark of Virginia; three sons, Bruce of Randle, Mike (Carol) of Rochester and Brian of Randle; four grandchildren, Jon Lowther (Jaime) of La Center, Jeff Reed (Megan) of Rochester, Becca White (Chris) of Napavine and Michelle Schoonover Mayer of Burbank; and seven great- grandchildren, Savanna, Dylan, Peyton, Jax, Victoria, Conner and Wyatt.
Whether he was called Marty, Dad, Grandpa, Papa or Friend, he will be missed by all that knew him.
