Martin Robert DeMayo of West Haven, died suddenly on May 29, 2013. Marty was born on June 8, 1963, and was a life long resident of West Haven. He is survived by his beloved parents, Vincent and Barbara Vitelli DeMayo of West Haven, his cherished sister and best friend, Amy DeMayo, of West Haven, and their dog, Lola. Marty was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Martin and Isabelle DeMayo, his maternal grandparents, Mario and Connie Vitelli, his paternal aunts, Elsi Calestro and Nina Blunda, his maternal aunt, Joanie Vitelli, as well as cousins Christopher and Michael Peloso, all of whom he loved and missed. Marty was an avid reader and animal lover who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and interest in furthering the rights of animals. He dedicated his life to family and friends and to improving the living conditions of any animal entrusted to his care. Marty was also a lover of film and theater and had an inexhaustible knowledge of the biographies of film artists and the history of the movie industry. Above all, Marty was loved for his sensitivity and compassion for all people and animals in his life. He never lost his sense of humor, his appreciation of the world around him, or his deep faith in God. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven, Monday morning 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, at 11:00. Interment will follow in East Side Cemetery in Woodbridge, CT. Friends may call MONDAY MORNING from 9:30-10:30. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
