Marvin Ross Neidt, 82, passed away in the company of his brother Stephen on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Bettendorf, IA. A celebration to honor his life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Runge Mortuary and Crematory in Davenport, IA. Military honors will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ross' name to the family to be used to carry out his burial wishes. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Ross was born on November 19, 1935 in Des Moines, IA to M. E. Pete and M. Louise Neidt. He was a proud member of the US Navy for eight years and was stationed aboard the USS Saipan. He married Betty and they had a son, Anthony Ryan. Their marriage later ended in divorce. He was later married to Maryann. Their marriage also ended in divorce. Ross worked as an automobile mechanic for over 45 years. A man of few words, he was known for his selfless acts of kindness and his big heart. He was an honored member of The American Legion, Post 154, where he served as chaplain. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Ross is survived by his son Anthony Ryan (Carol), his brother Stephen (Dori), his brother Peter (Lori), his sister Susan (Dennis), his nieces Susanne, Jennifer, Lisa, Erin, and Meagan, and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Janet.
