COLEMAN, MARY ALENE CHUMLEY., age 90 of Springville, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Coleman, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Johnson; brothers, James Chumley and Ralph Chumley; sister, Frances Lucille Peek; brother-in-law, Frank Peek; niece, Margaret Peek. She is survived by her children; Phyllis Adams (Larry) of Portland, OR, Dortha Nelson (Chuck), John Coleman (Ginger) and Walter Coleman, Jr.; grandchildren, Tovan Adams, Todd Adams (Shannon), Sean Bledsoe (Yelana), David Nelson (June), Ginger Coleman, Marie Coleman, April Perlaza (Gabriel) and Jake Coleman (Jessica); 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Bertha Chumley and Helen Chumley; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from Spring City High School in TN where she lettered in Varsity Basketball. She taught and operated amateur radio in Springville for many years. Mary was a bookkeeper at Pizitz Department Store and became a Realtor in the 70's. She helped organize the St. Clair County Board of Realtors. Mary was co-owner of Walter W. Coleman & Associates, Land Surveyor. She and her husband were very active with the Springville PTA and the band at Hewitt-Trussville High School. She was formerly a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and currently a member of New Lebanon Baptist Church in Springville. She was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 6, Order of the Eastern Star. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12:30-2 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2 PM with Chaplain David Carpenter officiating . Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to New Lebanon Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Fair Haven Nursing Home and Oasis Hospice for their loving care.
