Mary Ann "Mia" Guevarez, a longtime resident of Verplanck, NY, beloved wife of 60 years to Jose Guevarez, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Mia was born on January 25, 1939 in Peekskill, NY and raised by Anna Davis of Croton, who taught her to love and be loved.
To all who knew her, Mia was a caring and unique individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. Mia's worn out, much used heart, gave out after a lifetime of sharing her love of family, friends, strays and others who passed through her home.
Mia volunteered countless hours at the Cortlandt Ambulance Corps., worked for Lakeland School district, Transportation Dept., and 30+ years at the Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant.
She is survived by her children, Deborah and Charles Farrell, Patricia Guevarez, Jose and Patricia Guevarez, Teresa Guevarez, Larry and Michelle Guevarez and Kathy and George Liaskos. Mia is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sisters Rose Griffin, Patricia Huddleston, and Barbara Parker.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 6th at 11 am also at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Montrose, NY.
