Mary Anne Nelson (Clark), 80, went home to be with her Savior Jesus on March 30, 2017 at her home in Lake Geneva, WI surrounded by her family, strengthened by her faith, and at peace.
Mary Anne was born to the late Thomas and Marion Clark in Washington D.C. on October 4th, 1936. She met her husband to-be Bill Nelson, while working as a flight attendant with TWA and received a proposal within 2 weeks. They were married on October 3rd, 1959.
As part of God's sovereign plan this union led to her coming to faith in Jesus Christ early in their marriage and began a life long journey of following and serving the Lord. Her faith and obedience led to a life marked by gentleness, humility, hospitality, and a servant's heart. This was displayed by seeking to meet the needs of others and she frequently spent time caring for the elderly.
Mary Anne was blessed with a large and loving family. Her walk with Jesus was evident and influential in each one of their lives. Her joy, peace, and prayers impacted the faith of her children and grand-children. She is survived by her husband, Bill Nelson with whom she recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Mary Anne was the mother of 3 children, Brad Nelson, who preceded her in death, Cheri (Nelson) Pugh, and David Nelson. She has 7 grandchildren, Jessica Pugh, Ryan Pugh, Brad Pugh, Jarrett Pugh, Matthew Nelson, Katharyn Nelson, and Hannah Nelson. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Clark Holwegner, and was preceded in death by her brother, Charles William Clark.
She often spoke of her hope to be re-united with her late son as she would quote the scriptural promise, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Mary Anne's life and the hope of the Lord will be celebrated at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, IL on Sunday, April 2nd. Visitation will be from 1:30-4, followed by the service at 4pm.
