M. Claire Gross, July 22, 1924 - January 15, 2018.
It is with deepest sorrow that we share with you the passing of M. Claire Gross on January 15th at the age of 93. She is survived by her children Michael, Christine and Thomas, her grandchildren Simon, Lauren, Alexander and Katelyn, and great grandchildren Samuel, Claire and Maximus. She managed to stay in her home with the help of her dedicated caregiver Debra, as well as her loving community of friends and neighbors until her death. M. Claire trained as a nurse at Mass General in Boston and was able to use her skills in a variety of ways throughout her life, including as a nurse locally at the Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC). She led an adventurous life as the wife of George (Bernie) Gross during several assignments serving the State Department as Fisheries Attach to the American Embassies in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa, and Mexico City. Their relocation to Orlando was due to a job offer from Red Lobster, and it remained Claire's residence for over 40 years. During this time, Claire continued her explorations both in the U.S. and abroad, traveling to interesting places including Turkey, England and Holland with friends, and China, Australia and Rhode Island to visit with family. M. Claire lived a life close to all her family and friends, either geographically, or through telephone conversations, letters and cards. She has been and will always be greatly loved. She will be sorely missed by many.
The family has planned a Celebration of Claire's life on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. A service in the "children's chapel" (left side of Church) will be held at 12:00 noon and a reception to follow in the Annex building on campus following the service (see site map). The address is: 861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.

Claire will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her beloved husband George at a later date to be determined.
