Mary Dell Wootan passed from this earth, November 2, 2017. She was 89 years old.
Mary was born in Llano County, Texas, near Valley Springs on August 1st, 1928. Her parents were Nealie and Elzie Wright. Mary had two brothers, Dayton and Carl Wright. All of whom have preceded her in death, along with daughter Linda Cheryl Buchanan and granddaughter Emily Buchanan.
Mary spent her childhood in the hill country and on June 18th, 1947 she married A.C. Wootan. They made their home in Brady, Texas and while living there had their first child, Allan Wayne. In 1957, the family moved to Midland seeking work and in 1958 their second child, Linda Cheryl, was born. Their third child, Steven Kurt, was born in 1965.
Mary's life totally revolved around her family. She was a stay at home mother, except for time working in the Alamo Junior High cafeteria after her kids were out of the house. She spent innumerable hours supporting her sons and grandchildren at sporting events. She loved owls, hummingbirds, and her chihuahuas.
Mary was the matriarch of her family and her purpose on this earth was loving and caring for them all.
She is survived by her sons, Allan and wife Judy, and Steve and wife Donna both of Midland; grandchildren Robin Pattillo and husband Tim, Andrew Wootan, Valerie Wootan, Sarah Lawhon, Jordan Wootan, and Ryan Wootan and great grandchildren Ethan, Logan, and Callum Lawhon of Midland, Emma and Olivia Wootan of Midland, and Benjamin and Elzie Pattillo of Dallas.
A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Midland Memorial Hospital, Health South, Terrace West Nursing Home, and Home Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am Monday, November 6, 2017. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
