Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dowling, 64, died Monday (April 16, 2012) at her residence in Savannah. She was a native of Coffee County, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She graduated from Valdosta State University with a bachelor's degree in teaching. She was employed as a teacher for the Ware County School System. She is the daughter of the late Walter Dumar Jardine and Elizabeth Gillis Jardine. She is preceded in death by one brother, Walter Dumar Jardine, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Richard Dale Dowling of Douglas; one son, Charles "Chuck" Dowling of Savannah; one daughter, Lisa Plummer of Douglas; three grandchildren, Quentin Plummer, Morgan Plummer and Jackson Cowart; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Jardine Crosby of Waycross; two nieces, Stephanie Jardine of Waycross and DeeDee Jardine of Nicholls; her brother and sister-in-laws, Billy and Wilda Dowling, Danny and Marlene Dowling, Shirley and Roy Miller, Bunnie and Bill Howell; and numerous other relatives. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (April 20, 2012) at Stokesville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
