Mary Elizabeth Moore Hudson, 95, of Calion, AR, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2014. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whose lives she has touch in many ways. Mary was born on September 14, 1918 in Marion, LA, to Louie and Effie Cobb Moore.
She went to Dermott High School where she was valedictorian and football queen her senior year. She married Alfred Hudson and later moved to Calion where she was a housewife and mother to their eight children. She was a faithful member of Calion Baptist Church and made sure her children went to church every Sunday. She was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She was MamMaw to not only her children, but to everyone in Calion, her door was never locked and she always had sweet treats. Mary was on the election board, an Avon Rep, played dominoes and known as the Kool Aid Lady at church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and two brothers, Ivee Moore Taylor, Elmer Moore, Nile Moore, Roxie Eads, Christine Moore Patterson, and Faye Moore Greer; her husband, Alfred Hudson; grandsons, Tony Hudson and Jamie Giles, and son-in-law Richard Bush.
She is survived by LaRue Stone, (Billy Bob), Nita Parker (Billy Joe), Roxie Harris (Jerry), Dixie Bush, Jimmy Hudson (Brenda), Janyce Hudson, Neil Hudson (Debbie), and Jackie Ray Hudson (Paige). She has twenty-three grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren; and seventeen great, great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Calion with Rev. Kenny Blackwell and Rev. David Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Rhodes Chapel Cemetery near Lawson under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mickey Parker, Kenny, Donnie and Todd Parker, Mike Giles, Kirk and Jonathan Hudson, Ritchie Bush, Shelby Ray Hudson and Ryan Neil Hudson.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Calion.
