Mary Kester, 67, of Friendswood, Texas died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at home after a courageous battle against cancer.
Mary was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia and grew up in Kentucky and Texas. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and University of Houston with a Bachelors in Psychology. After graduation, she began a career that spanned 20 years in both the semiconductor and telecommunications industries. She worked for three Fortune 500 companies: Texas Instruments, in Stafford, Texas; AT&T, in Columbus, Ohio; and Intel Corporation, in New Mexico and Arizona.
At Intel, Mary was a member of multiple plant startups, including a greenfield plant in Leixlip, Ireland and one in Costa Rica. Mary was highly regarded as a Training Development Manager. Her teams delivered training that was widely used across Intel's factory networks.
After retiring from Intel in 1999, Mary continued to expand her knowledge and obtained certifications in Feng-Shui and Emotional Freedom Techniques. In 2007, she became General Manager for Nature's Garden Market Caf bringing her wide range of skills to the business.
Mary is survived by her brother, Michael Kester, Houston, and cousins Mary Lou Walters, California; Karen Farbman, New Jersey; Connie Stiers, Ohio; and Kelly Walters, Virginia. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Donald and Monica Kester.
