Mary Elizabeth McCormack passed away May 31, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Mary Elizabeth Waln was born January 15, 1924 in New Castle, IN to Harvey Albert Waln and Goldie Jane Adams Waln. Her late siblings have preceded her passing: Adelia, Carl, Catherine, Estle, Eva, Ivan, Leon, Raymond, Robert and Russell. She wed William Edward McCormack on November 3, 1945 in New Castle, IN and he preceded her passing in 2008 after 62 years of marriage. She leaves their three sons and their families: Michael Edward McCormack and wife Joy Marsha Lyon McCormack of San Antonio, TX and daughter Diana Lee McCormack of San Antonio, TX. Bruce Alan McCormack and wife Marilyn Jeanne Hodge McCormack of Fairfield, CA and son Jeffrey Alan McCormack of Vacaville, CA, daughter Bridgette Elizabeth McCormack Berry and husband Stephen Berry of Midlothian, VA and their children, Alexis, Audrey and Olivia, and son Zachariah Edward McCormack and wife Shannon Irene Palacios McCormack of Fairfield, CA and their children Trenton Royer, Brianna and Peyton. Kevin Lee McCormack and wife Donna Lucille Fleming McCormack of Newnan, GA and daughter, Heather Michelle Fleming Rawlins and husband Jesse Clayton Rawlins of Newnan, GA and their children Bryce, Addyson and Khole Rawlins, and daughter Mary Elizabeth McCormack of Newnan, GA.

Mary graduated from New Castle High School in 1942 and worked at the Henry County Building and Loan Association in New Castle and became a lifelong member of the Sigma Phi Gamma Business Woman's Sorority (Mu Gamma Chapter). She married Bill McCormack on November 3, 1945 after he had entered the U.S. Army that previous summer. She traveled to live with Bill in Germany in 1946, then as an Army wife managed family and moves to San Antonio, Indianapolis, Okinawa, Ft Lee (VA), New York City, to Germany, Kentucky, Fort Worth, and in civilian life in Fort Worth she and Bill joined the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Dallas Headquarters, then relocated to San Antonio, Seoul, Alexandria, Atlanta, then to Grand Prairie where they lived for 25 years, retired from AAFES in 1989, and volunteered in various civic and sorority activities; then in 2008 came to stay in San Antonio in assisted living. She and Bill traveled across the world visiting St. Petersburg, Berlin, Paris, Venice, Tokyo, Peking, Bangkok, Honolulu, among many others, and made and retained many long friendships far and wide. She always offered a friendly helping hand to others and was an accomplished bowler and party and tournament bridge player. Her constant diligent and patient caring and loving attention and visits have left indelible memories with her three sons, six grandchildren, and nine greatgrandchildren.
