Mary Elvira Stribling Gaudet, 89, devoted wife, loving mother of nine, devout Catholic, and Jackson-area resident since 1955, died at Ridgeland Hospice Ministries on Saturday, October 1, 2011. A funeral Mass celebrating Elvira's life will be held at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1242 Lynnwood Dr., Jackson, on Wednesday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m.. The Mass will be preceded by a visitation at the church at 10:00 a.m.

Elvira was born on 18 September 1922 at home in Union, Mississippi, the fourth of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Perry Stribling and Elvira Mae Moore Stribling; by her brothers and sisters Corinne Edwina Stribling, Sidney Hoye Stribling, Perry Loutrelle Stribling, Frederick Kentmore (Kent) Stribling, Phillip Gordon Stribling, and Martha Ellen Stribling Barlow; and by her beloved husband of 65 years, Edward William (Bill) Gaudet.

Mrs. Gaudet is survived by her nine children: Bill Gaudet, Jr (Jeannine), Hernando MS; Sandra Brou (Philip), Dallas GA; Beth Justus (Rich Warga), Baton Rouge LA; Melinda Brauss (Mark), Lake St. Louis MO; Martha Joseph (Joe), Jackson MS; Denise Wissel (Dave) Jackson MS, John Gaudet, Tylertown MS; Caroline Gaudet, Jackson MS; And Elvira Rouse (Steve), Purvis MS. She has 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren to date. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Dorothy Stribling, Ridgeland MS, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
