Mary Jane Miner Hansen Knights
Mary Jane passed away on 29 December 2017. She was born 17 Sept. 1926 in Long Beach, California to Melvin Edwin and Pearl Christensen Miner. She was married to Robert Southwick Hansen (div) and they had 3 daughters, whom they raised in La Canada, California, Susan (Kenneth Allen), Carol Hansen (David Smith), and Louise (Darryl High). She later married Wilford Schaar Knights. She leaves ten grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She loved her family and looked forward to family dinners and outings with them. She cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to be of service. She served a Mission in Austria-Vienna with her husband Wil and again in the Utah-Salt Lake City Mission and several Family History Missions. Her leadership abilities were used as she served as President of the Southern California Dental Wives, as President of her Dental Hygiene Class in Pasadena, California, as President of the Utah Dental Hygienists' Association, as President of the Ward Primary, Ward and Stake Young Women and Ward Relief Society President. She also served on a Relief Society General Board committee. She was a graduate of BYU in English and used her talents in many ways, about six times serving as editor of ward and other organizational newsletters. She had several articles published in magazines. She used her talents for over a decade providing flower arrangements for the church chapel. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her brother, Melvin Douglas Miner. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Jean Beckett and Doris June Harker and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Holladay 3rd Ward 4568 South Holladay Blvd, Holladay, Utah. Interment was on January 5, 2018, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
