At the age of 25, she moved to Dallas with her cousin Virginia. They lived with their aunt Pearl Allen and she got a job at the Dallas Power & Light Company. There she met her husband Jake Coleman. They married in 1961 and had their daughter, Leeann in 1966. They took much pride and joy in raising Leeann in Grand Prairie. Mary has been a longtime active member of the Indian Hills Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, and church. She showed Christ's love to others by sending yearly birthday and Christmas cards to all of her family and friends. There was never a year that went by that she didn't send cards.
