Mary Pell Bowe, aged 81, of Charleston, was born on January 2, 1936 in Collinsdale, West Virginia. She went home to be with our Lord on April 8, 2017.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Cloyd and Lucinda Pell; sisters, Anise Matz and Pearl Bryant; and brothers, Bruce, Paul and Tommy Pell.

Mary was a 1954 graduate of East Bank High School and worked as a secretary for many years for various employers, finally retiring from the WV Department of Health and Human Services.

She was a member of Diamond Baptist Church in Diamond. Mary was an avid reader, having read her Bible through many times.

She loved her children with all her heart and she loved the children of others as well. Mary loved to sew and crochet and was known for all the Afghans, baby garments and hats she crocheted over the years.

In her final years, she was a resident of Genesis Healthcare Nursing Home in Marmet, where she added many precious ones to her family.

She is survived by sisters, Erma Spaulding of Fort Myers, Florida, Linda (Raymond) Matics of Pratt, Carol "Jean" (Calvin) Phalen of Naperville, Illinois; and brothers, Emerson Pell of Waynesboro, Virginia and Jack (Lynn) Pell of Branson, Missouri. She leaves behind her three children, Deanna Taylor of Cross Lanes, James (Mary Ruth) Bowe of Charleston and Joanna (John) Salyers of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Alan (Janna) Taylor of Lexington, Kentucky, Justin (Lynsey) Bowe of Hurricane, Garrett (Marisa) Riggs of Newport News, Virginia and Jessica Bowe of Nitro; two great- grandchildren, William and Rohne Taylor of Lexington, Kentucky; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loving caregivers at Genesis Healthcare Nursing Home in Marmet.

A celebration of her life and Homegoing will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Stevens and Grass Funeral Home, 4203 Salines Drive, Malden, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Tucker officiating. A brief committal and entombment service will be held at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, with a dinner to follow at Farrar Memorial Baptist Church at the corner of Furman Avenue and Church Drive in Rand.
