Mary Mone (Brooks) Carpenter, 87, went home to our Lord on August 19, 2017. She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on July 23, 1930. She remained in Ohio for her childhood, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1948. After graduation, Mary worked as a nanny before relocating to California where she married Ray Carpenter in 1954. She then became a very busy and successful homemaker with six children to care after finding time to help Ray when he opened Ray's Mobile Homes in the mid 1970's. Birthdays were always a special occasion and she asked each child what flavor they would like for their homemade birthday cake. After Ray's passing in 1978 and all the children were raised, she took a more active role in her church. She began attending St Paul's Episcopal Church in 1969 and participated in many study groups, the ECW group, and representative at several diocesan conferences and meetings. She served as a Lay Reader for a time and sang in the church choir for over 40 years. In 2010 she took the Vows of Life in the Sisters of the Holy Cross where she was renamed Sister Anna. Most recently, she served as a dedicated prayer intercessor at Trinity Anglican Church. Mary was quick witted, intelligent, and an excellent baker and cook as her children will attest to. One thanksgiving she made everyone's favorite pie culminating in a dozen homemade flakey crusted delicacies. One of her grandchildren's fondest memories is how she would gently scratch their backs for hours on end. She spent much of her time reading theology, studying the Bible and praying for those in need, her children, her large extended family and many friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Almus Ray Carpenter, her son, Phillip Wayne Carpenter, grandson Keith Monroe Peterson, her parents, Jay and Ruth Brooks, her sisters, Sally Brooks and Marguerite Boyle, her brothers, Harold, Howard and Paul Brooks.

Mary is survived by her sons; Michael Carpenter, Dennis Carpenter and wife Connie, Kenneth Carpenter and wife Kelly, daughter in law Mary Carpenter, daughters; Vikki Peterson and husband Bruce, Beth Andrews and husband Tod, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, brother Charles Brooks and wife Pat, brother in law Frank Boyle, sister in law Audrey Brooks, and several nieces and nephews.

On September 9, 2017 a public memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at Trinity Anglican Church, 11300 Campus Park Dr, Bakersfield, California, 93314. Mary will be interned with her husband in a private family ceremony at Hillcrest Cemetery.
