Mary Nancy Stewart was born on November 2, 1918 in Higby, Missouri, and died on January 3, 2018, in Tomball, Texas. As important as those dates are, they are minor compared to the life she lived in the in-between years. Above all, she was a kind and gentle woman who loved her family, her friends, and her church. She did not live large but lived well. For many years, she worked at Neely's Drapery Shop, creating beautiful sewn goods for many in Beaumont. Her greatest creation, however, was the world she made for her family. That world was marked by small deeds with big meanings for her and her family -decades of roast and mashed potato Sunday dinners, Easter egg hunts, overnights with her grandchildren, bountiful bacon breakfasts, endless attendance at Little League games, always-remembered birthdays, just being there--all filled with unconditional love.

Nancy will be cherished and missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Ned Stewart, and is survived by son Ronald Dale Stewart and daughter-in-law Emily Stewart of Beaumont; daughter Linda Stewart Cochran and son-in-law Lowell Cochran of Spring, Texas; sister Betty Bornowski of Rockwall, Texas; her niece Patsy Womack and husband Allen; nieces Betty Cole; Sandra Burda; nephews Don McCoy, Arthur Bornowski and wife Cindy, David Bornowski and wife Amy, Bill Bornowski and wife Debbie, and Julie Stewart. Her granddaughters Kimberly Cochran and Kelly Shaw of Spring and grandsons Jason Stewart and Kyle Stewart and his wife Stephanie of Austin will miss their Mawmaw and those countless small deeds of love that marked her whole life, as will her seven great-grandchildren, Sorelda, Rykkhan, and Braddek Shaw of Spring; Avery, Ben, Caleb, and Chloe Stewart of Austin. Her church family at Calvary Baptist Church will miss her quiet and kind faith.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with a reception meal to follow after the service in the Forest Lawn Hospitality Room. Burial rites will be private.
