Mary Lambert Trent French, age 91 died March 31, 2017. She was born in Perrysbury, Ohio the daughter of Jane Yant and Francis Trent. She was a graduate of Ohio State University with a BS in microbiology. Mary worked at several hospitals in Ohio and Virginia in the field of diagnostic medicine. She was married August 5th, 1950 to John David French, MD and in 1957 moved to Martinsville. She volunteered her time with the Red Cross, Charity League and at Memorial Hospital in the Microbiology Lab. Mary had been an active member of Broad Street Christian Church since 1972, where she took an active role in the Disciples Women's organization and had a special interest in the development of the church library.

She has lived the past 5 years at Heritage Woods in Winston-Salem, NC. While there she was instrumental in organizing and managing a puzzle club and leading a bible study group. In addition, she participated in the Bridge Club, which allowed her to play Bridge three times a week. She lived a full life enjoying the multitude of activities available, including exercise. Her other hobbies included reading and bird watching.

She is survived by her sister Jane Perna, her sister-in-law Carol Trent, and 4 children: Margaret French Blevins of Lewisville, NC, Elizabeth French Blankenship and husband Sam of Charlotte, NC, David Nelson French of Martinsville, VA and Paul Robert French and wife Trena of Christiansburg, VA. Grandchildren include: Trent Blevins (Faith), Kiely Blevins, James Blankenship (Rebecca), Cindy Blankenship, Allison French, Heather Farrar and Alex Farrar.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Woods for their loving and attentive care.
Memorials may be made in Mary's honor to Broad Street Christian Church Matthew 25 Fund.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Broad Street Christian Church with Reverends Mark Parkinson and Robert Button officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
