Maryann Gallagher, 64, a resident of Marlow, NH, passed away peacefully
at her home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.

She was born August 25, 1950, in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of the late Edward F. and Ann U. (Keany) Gallagher. Maryann spent most of her childhood and young adult years abroad, living in both the Middle East and Europe. She
received a B.A..from Chestnut Hill College, an M.A. from Columbia University where she studied with anthropologist Margaret Mead, and an M.A.C.P from Antioch in Keene. She devoted her career to helping those in need, working for Monadnock Family Services as a therapist and manager, and CHESCO as a home provider.

Her devotion to helping those in need also extended to her many pets, past and present. She, her partner, Sandra Chase, and her dear friend, Kristin Anderson, shared their home with four-legged companions Mikey, their cat, and Queenie, their dog, who kept vigil over Maryann during her final transition. She loved being surrounded by the beauty of nature, particularly at her home on the Ashuelot abounding in rocks and small stones she had gathered in her extensive travels. Ever the consummate hostess, she thrived on providing a tranquil space for the people she loved the most.

Maryann is survived by her loving companion of 30 years, Sandra Chase of Marlow; Sandra's son, Will Chase, of Seattle, WA, whom Maryann called the "son of my heart;" her twin brother, James F. Gallagher and his wife Hea Soon of PA; brother Edward P. Gallagher, his wife Deborah and her beloved niece and nephew, Sean and Kelly of NC; aunts Mary Meany of NJ and Maggie Gomez of MN; Sandra's family: Joan Hamilton, Max Foldeak, his wife Dianna, and son Gabriel, and Christopher Foldeak, all of West Chesterfield, NH, and Susan Robbins, her husband Chris and their children Amanda and Aaron of Marlborough, NH.

Services were private, per Maryann's wishes. Gifts in her memory may be made to hospice@hcs, P.O. Box 564, Keene, NH 03431
