Maryanne Wujciak Spencer, age 80, noted volunteer, passed away quietly on Thanksgiving morning after a long illness.

A 32-year resident of Annapolis, Maryanne was born in New Jersey to the late Alfred Joseph Wujciak and Catherine Steady Wujciak. She graduated from Seton Hall University with Honors in English. In 1958 she married John J. Spencer and they celebrated 59 years of marriage this past June. Until 1985 she lived in Bernardsville, New Jersey during which time she was extremely active in local fund raising and activities for her children's schools.

Upon her arrival in Annapolis, Maryanne wasted no time getting involved in volunteerism throughout the community. Always full of energy, ideas and accomplishments she served in many capacities, including as President of the Caritas Society of St. Johns College, as a Founding Member and Chairman of the Mitchell Gallery Advisory Board of St. Johns College, as a Member of the Foundation Board of the Anne Arundel Medical Center, as a Member and Chairman of the Foundation Board of Hospice of the Chesapeake, as a Member of the Board of the Anne Arundel SPCA, and as a Member of the 21st Century Club. Many of her friends and family would jokingly refer to her as a "Professional Volunteer", a label she wore proudly.

In addition to her husband John, Maryanne is survived by her daughter Catherine Spencer and her husband Curtis James of Stevensville MD, her son Mark Spencer and his wife Kate of Wilmington NC, and their children John Robert of Charleston, SC and Emma of Ft. Worth, TX. She also leaves behind two brothers, Alfred Wujciak and Jack Wujciak, both of New Jersey.

Interment will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.

Memorial service to honor her life will be held on Jan 12, 2018 from 4:30 until 6:30 pm at the FSK Lobby of St John's College, Annapolis MD
