Mattie J. "Midge" Bryant

On September 2, 2016 at 1:45 a.m., Mattie J. "Midge" Bryant (84) was called home to be with the Lord and join her loving husband in heaven. Mrs. Bryant was born on October 27, 1931 in Pollock, Louisiana to Cleo and Ed Kilpatrick. She married Johnny Childress Bryant on November 19, 1949 and raised her children, Shannon and Michaelan, in Bastrop, Louisiana. A homemaker who loved to cook for her family, crochet and sew, and care for her husband, children, and grandchildren, Mrs. Bryant is the grandmother to Jeannie Burt (Willie) of Duncanville, Texas; Gregory Musgrove (Tonya) of Semmes, Alabama; Amanda Musgrove, Suzanne Lisenby, and Bryant Newcomb, all of Killeen; Adrian Musgrove of Ouray, Colorado, and Celeste Tyler of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She is survived by one sister, Margie Grimes, of Bastrop, Louisiana; nineteen great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kendall, Deanna, Aden, Onna, Christopher, Brodie, Campbell, Madison, Taylor, Makaila, Meredeth, Alexandria, Vadell, Luna, Ella, Savannah, Charlie, and Catherine as well as one great-great grandson, Malachi.

Mrs. Bryant, known as Mamaw, was a beautiful light in this world. A devout Christian, she showed kindness and love to all and exemplifies the virtuous woman. She will be missed by many loved ones and friends, but her legacy will live on through our family and the love we share.

Visitation will be held from 9 am to 11 am Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Temple, Texas. Graveside services are at 2 pm Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Rogers Cemetery in Rogers, Texas.
