May Philomon Dugas "Ms. Pap", 96, died peacefully in her home October 14, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Pap, was born June 1, 1919 to her parents Blanche and Oscar Guillotte. She met and married the love of her life Waverly Joseph "Pap" Dugas on February 14, 1946. They were happily married for 56 years. Mr. and Ms. Pap were life-long residents of Vinton, LA where they are survived by their 4 beautiful daughters; Susan Hantz and husband Glenn of Dayton, TX, Debbie Lambert and husband Bruce of Moss Bluff, LA, Joyzelle Dugas of Vinton, LA, Jeannie Breaux and husband Kenny of Carlyss, LA. Ms. Pap was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren; Vicky Patin, Shawn, Bryan, Russell, Melanie, and Willie Hantz, Christopher and Kimberly Lambert and Katie Montiville, Darren and Rachel Breaux; they blessed her with 23 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In her younger years, Ms. Pap enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and cherished the special times and memories she made with them. She also loved to try her luck at the local Casino's with her sisters. She had a passion for sewing and quilting and was a member of the "Hot Needles" quilting club housed in Mauriceville, TX. She participated in making numerous beautiful, unique quilts for her family and friends. She loved to be outside tending to her flowers and was an avid walker. Ms. Pap was a faithful woman of God who strengthened her relationship with Christ, attended daily mass regularly and never ceased praying her rosary. She was an active member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over sixty years. She served as Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Catholic Daughters for over fifty years where she was able to serve God, her Church, and Community. Ms. Pap was an inspiration and prayer warrior for all who knew her. She will be truly missed at the family Sunday gatherings.
Also left to cherish her memory are a brother Eugene Guillotte of Bridge City, TX and three sisters; Daisy, Pearl, and Theresa Guillotte of Orange, TX; also blessed and loved by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Chester Guillotte and sister Inez Ewing.
Please join us in celebrating Ms. Pap's full life with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, October 19th at 3pm. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-8pm with a rosary at 6pm and resume Monday, noon until time of service in Hixson-Vinton Memorial Funeral Home. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery, Edgerly, LA. The family would like to thank Father Carlos Garcia, the caregivers of Heart of Hospice, and caregiver/friend Laura Buxbaum Landry.
