Mazie Virginia Tozier, 101, of Culpeper, VA passed away January 14, 2018 at The Culpeper. She was born to Luther and Mary Catherine Wilmetta DeLawder in Orkney Springs, VA on August 27, 1916.
Mrs. Tozier enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, gardening and was famous for her cooking. Her intrepid spirit led her to packing up the children and household for Mr. Tozier's postings in Istanbul, Paris and London where she enjoyed shopping for antiques and taking full advantage of culture of the countries. Earlier in life as a recent graduate from Shepherd College, she traveled to Guatemala to teach.
Surviving Mrs. Tozier are her daughters, Susan Rowan (Daniel) and Mary Reagan; her grandchildren, Melinda and Sarah Haller, Katherine Aldridge (Drew), Rebecca Rowan, and Margaret Robison (Chad); her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley, Evie and Lainie Aldridge, and Gabriel, Jacob, and Eva Robison; her brother, Paige DeLawder, and sister-in-law Ethel Jorgensen. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alvin O. Tozier, and a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Williams, as well as her brothers, Clyde and Norman DeLawder, and sisters Edith Lowe, Loretta Botts and Janet McCoy.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Spotsylvania, Virginia Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Employee Appreciation Fund, c/o Resident council of The Culpeper, P. O. Box 191, Culpeper, VA 22701. The family is so grateful to all of the staff who provided love and care to Mazie in her final years.
