Melvin L. Orloff age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21st. Mel was the loving husband to Ann(nee Ciotti) for 52 years. He was the youngest of 8 children of Otto and Emma Orloff, and all his siblings preceded him in death: Caroline(Gustav) Meyer, Albert(Frances) Orloff, Mildred Orloff, Clara(Henry) Joritz, Ruth(Otto) Joritz, Ethel(John) Lees and Elmer(Ruth) Orloff. Mel graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology after serving in the Air Force during World War II and worked as an Industrial Engineer at U.S. Steel South Works. Mel & Ann traveled extensively and lived in Taiwan and Indonesia while he worked as a consultant for U.S. Steel. They were known for their beautiful garden at their longtime residence in Oak Lawn. He recently participated in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was a resident of Brookdale Senior Living Community in Burr Ridge the last 4 years and was a favorite of the staff and other residents as he was voted as best story teller. He is survived by his siter-in-law Mary Jane Gentleman and many, many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
