Melvin Price, 79, peacefully passed away Monday December 16, 2013. Melvin was born in Lexington County on January 17, 1934. He was the son of the late Lonnie Edgar and Carrie Taylor Price. He married Joyce Frye Price on April 12, 1952. Melvin retired from Pacific Mills (Spring Industries) where he worked along side his twin brother, Marvin, for 46 years. Melvin was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church where he and Joyce volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Melvin enjoyed hunting, Atlanta Braves Baseball and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce Frye Price, daughter, Melvina "Mel" Drake, his twin brother, Marvin O. Price, sisters, Ellen and Betty Shealy, Dorothy Clamp and Evalou Alexander, and a granddaughter, Massey Drake. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jeanette Price, brothers Ray, Ernest, Joe, Hubert and Voight Price, sisters, Mozell Oxner, Connie Hite and Lucy Koon. Services for Melvin N. Price, 79, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at First Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Calvary Baptist Church 2320 Cedar Grove Road Leesville, SC 29070.
