Obituary

Meredith Furiga (nee Chawansky), 48, of Avon, passed away at home on Sunday November 29, 2020, following a courageous year of living with brain cancer. She was surrounded by her family.
Meredith was born in Elyria and grew up in Lorain. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1990, and she earned her BA from Ohio University in 1994. After college, Meredith worked in sales for WEOL and Schafer Development. She moved to Avon in 2002 with her husband Frank. Since 2004, she was employed by Trader Joe's in Westlake.
Meredith enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and she especially enjoyed supporting the musical and athletic pursuits of her children, Anthony and Ava. Meredith enjoyed watching sports, including the Browns, Cavs and Indians. She combined her interests in baseball and travel and visited 34 MLB parks around the United States.
Survivors include her loving husband, Franklin (Frank) Furiga; beautiful children, Anthony and Ava; mother, Carol (nee Murray) Chawansky; sisters, Megan Chawansky (Monica Carroll) and Amanda Chawansky (Code Thiam); mother-in-law, Joann (nee Szakats) Furiga; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Zenovy (Zen) Chawansky, and father-in-law, Victor Furiga.

The family will hold a private service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Avon, where Meredith was a parishioner and a PSR teacher. A celebration of Meredith's life is tentatively planned for summer of 2021.
