Milan "Mike" Wayne Kemp, 86, of Exeter Twp., passed away peacefully in Rittenhouse Village in Laureldale on Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was the husband of the late Minnie (Painter) Kemp.

Born in Reading on August 12, 1930, he was a son of the late Thomas and Flora (Rollman) Kemp. Mike was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball both Jr and Sr years. He was on the Gregg Post # 12 Key Juniors American Legion Championship Team 1944 & 1947. He was selected to play in the All American Boys Baseball Game Aug. 10, 1946 at Wrigley Field, Chicago. He played semi-pro baseball with the Detroit Tigers Minor League System from 1948 to 1952. As an adult, he was an honorary member of the Reading and Berks Old Timers Basketball Assoc. and a member of the Berks Chapter of the Penna. Sports Hall of Fame. Mike played slow pitch baseball in the late 60's into the early 70's and remained a huge sports fan the rest of his life.

Mike was employed with Carpenter Technology as support staff from 1965 to 1992 when he retired.

Surviving are three children: Michele A. (Kemp) Switalski and her husband, Robert of Elizabethtown; Kyle B. Kemp of Exeter Twp. and Kim L. (Kemp) Strahin of Mt. Penn; three grandchildren: Chelsey D. (Saccamando) Ugolik and her husband Michael, Bradley J. Houck and Randy J. Houck; one great grandson, Devon Ugolik and a brother, Bernard "Ben" Kemp and his wife, Joan.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Edna (Booth) Kemp, Edna (Doll) Kemp and Nancy (Mengel ) Kemp and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Minnie; Mike is predeceased by four sisters: Mary (Kemp) Nuckolls, Flora "Babe" (Kemp) Cinfici, Dorothy "Dot" Beiswanger and Marlene (Kemp) Matz; five brothers: Kenneth, Meredith, Richard, Leonard and Raymond Kemp and a son-in-law, Salvatore Saccamando.

A Graveside service for Mike will be at 12:30pm pm on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will form the funeral procession in the entrance of the cemetery at 12pm on Friday. Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, Reiffton is entrusted the arrangement.
