Mildred Lucille Ridge, age 96, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Tuesday January 23, 2018. Mildred was born February 11, 1921 to Dolphus and Ollie Pearl Christopher in Fort Towson, Ok.

Mildred grew up in Oklahoma. She left school after the 3rd grade to start traveling with her parents and eight siblings to work. As a young woman, she moved to California to pick and pack grapes. In the late 40's she met and fell in love with Luther Ridge and the two were married. While living in California they started their family with the birth of their son in 1949 and completed their family with the birth of their daughter in 1952. The family continued to move until they settled down in Texas in the early 60's.

Mildred was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother. She had an amazing life full of joy, hardship, heartache and an abundance of love. One evening she and Luther attended an evangelist revival were she became a child of God. That night she was instantly delivered from the chains of smoking.

Mildred worked for the Dallas Auto Auction as a driver before retiring at 76 years old. Most of her co-workers called her grandma and many others called her Granny. She was a sweet, kind and gentle woman with a high work ethic and an incredibly resilient inner strength that came from God. Mildred was a devout Christian who put God first in everything she did. She enjoyed taking time to appreciate flowers and sewing. Skilled with a needle and thread she made her children's clothes, curtains and perfectly fitted dress for her mother-in-law.

After God, her biggest passion was spending her time with her family. She was an amazing cook. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her special macaroni, soup and delicious cakes, pies and blackberry cobbler. Mildred read her Bible faithfully, attended Radiant Life Church in Grand Prairie and was blessed with numerous miracles in her life through her faith.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Luther Ridge, son Marvin Ridge, parents Dolphus Christopher and Ollie Pearl Campbell Christopher, brothers: John, Ralph, Tommy, Walter, Marshall and Marvin and sisters Clara and Violet.

She is survived by her daughter Norma Lee Couch; grandchildren: Tammy Williams and husband, David, Stuart Ridge and wife, Elizabeth, Derral Ridge, Shane Couch and wife, Sascha, Leslie Gibson and husband, Jason, Wesley Ridge and wife, Holly; great-grandchildren: Makynzie Gibson, Colby Couch, Caden Couch, Callie Couch, Kelton Couch, Cohen Couch.
