Milford Y. Lambert, 81 of Markle passed away at 4:47 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital. He graduated as the 1948 class Valedictorian of Rock Creek Township High School. He worked at Majestic Company in Huntington for 44 years, retiring in 1995 as the Data Processing Manager. He was a member of the Markle United Methodist Church since 1948. He served as Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Delegate to Annual Conference for many years. He volunteered for many years as Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop #128 in Markle. He also volunteered with Markle Boys Baseball League. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Markle Fish & Game Club Park, was a past member and treasurer of the Huntington Exchange Club, he sang for many years with the Chain-O-Lakes Men's Barbershop Chorus. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard 38th Infantry Division - Sergeant from 1949 - 1956 and activated to active duty during the Korean War. Additionally he served as President of the Town of Markle Park Board from 1996 until his death. During that time he was instrumental in the creation and development of the Markle Walkway Park. He was a past president of the Markle Historical Society.

He was born on March 20, 1930 in Adams County, Indiana, a son of A. Ira and Delsie (Smith) Lambert.

He was united in marriage to Lois E. Imler on September 23, 1951 at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2002.

Survivors include three sons: Robert L. Lambert of Fort Wayne; Curt Lambert of Sherman Oaks, CA; Stanton R. (Jennifer) Lambert of West Lafayette; two sisters: Treva (John) Taylor of Markle; Verda Patten of Zanesville; a special friend: Carol Buzzard of Huntington and three grandchildren: Stacy Lambert of Indianapolis; Aaron Lambert of Bloomington and Shanelle Lambert (Jon) Rauh of Thompson Station, TN.

He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Pastor Steve McPeek officiating.

Interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke.
