Mildred Ellen Dennis, 74, passed away on March 11, 2017 at her home in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on February 20, 1943 in Corning, New York, and was the only child of Robert and Phyllis (Horn) Meikle.

Millie grew up in Painted Post, New York and graduated from Painted Post High school in 1960. After high school, she attended Mansfield State College where she received a degree in teaching in 1964. During her time in college she met the love of her life, Mahlon Dennis, who was also attending Mansfield State College, working on his B.S. in Chemistry and Physics.

Millie and Mahlon were married in 1965 and celebrated 51 years of marriage on September 18, 2016. She was a loving mother to her two sons Tom and Bob, and a doting grandma to her three granddaughters Sydney, Jessica, and Catie.

Ever supportive of Mahlon's educational, career, and entrepreneurial pursuits, they lived in several states, including Pennsylvania and Ohio, before finally settling in Kingwood, Texas in 1980. In Kingwood, Millie and her family thrived, and she became involved in many activities within the community, including "Hi Neighbor", Aggie Moms, bridge leagues, and was in a bowling league for many years. She served on the board of "Hi-Neighbor" and was named "Member of the Year" in 1988, and also served as 1st Vice President of the Kingwood A&M Mother's Club.

Millie enjoyed her life in Kingwood to the fullest, and greatly enjoyed the many, many friendships she made throughout her 37 years in Kingwood. She was a fiercely loyal friend and neighbor. She and Mahlon were both known together for their incredibly generous spirit and giving of their time and resources to anyone with a genuine need. One of the things Millie enjoyed most, other than her family, was playing Bridge with her friends. She was an accomplished player, achieving the level of Bronze Life Master. She also received great joy from being a grandmother, as well as a doggy-mommy to her many spoiled dogs over the years. Everything Millie did, she did to the fullest and with all her heart and energy. She will be remembered for her loving, quirky, strong personality, and her willingness to give her loving care to those she loved so much.

Millie is survived by her son Tom and his wife Chris, her son Bob, and her 3 granddaughters Sydney, Jessica, and Catie. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Phyllis Meikle, and her husband Mahlon Dennis. A visitation will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 6-8 p.m., followed by a funeral service at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at Rosewood Funeral Home and Cemetery in Humble, Texas.

In Millie's honor, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society at, or the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston at
