Minnie M. (Painter) Kemp, 84, of Exeter Twp., passed away peacefully in Berkshire Center with her son by her side on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

She was the loving wife of Milan Wayne Kemp. Born in Warwick Twp., Chester Co., on March 6, 1932, Minnie was a daughter of the late William M. and Grace (McCord) Painter.

Minnie was a 1950 Warwick High School graduate and a 1954 graduate of West Chester State Teachers College.

She was a Physical Education and Health Teacher in Pottstown School District from 1950-1957 and with the Reading School District, retiring in 1984. In retirement, she substitute taught through the mid 90s.

Minnie was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church and belonged to the Women's Club with the church. She was also a member of the Exeter Twp. Women's Club. She enjoyed golfing and hiking, where she was a member of the Community Hikers.

In addition to her husband, Milan, Minnie is survived by two children, Kyle B. Kemp, of Exeter Twp., and Kim L. (Kemp) Strahin, of Mt. Penn; two grandsons, Bradley J. and Randy J. Houck; four brothers: Hervey Painter and his wife, Mary, Hunter Painter and his wife, Sandie, Gross Painter and his wife, Gloria, and Jesse Painter and his wife, Barbara; and two sisters, Irene (Painter) Shields and Narrie (Painter) Herr.

She is predeceased by two sisters, Ada (Painter) Philips, Virginia "Ginnie" (Painter) Smith, and two brothers, Robert "Bob" Painter and Fred Painter.

Services for Minnie will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. in Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, Pa. 19606. Family and friends will be received in the church on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday 1-1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.

Auman's, Inc., Funeral Home, Reiffton, is entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church at the above address. Casual dress is accepted for her service.
