Mrs. Nancy Marie Young Ballard, 72, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, December 4, at her residence with her family at her side.

She was born June 19, 1945, in Ashe County, the daughter of the late Dwight Nathaniel and the late Grace Naomi Sturgill Young. She was employed by Burlington Industries until her retirement. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and enjoyed going to Cherokee, family outings and getting together with her family, and her dog, Brownie. She also loved the simple things in life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, James Ballard Sr.; sister, Audrey (Diane) McClain; brother, Henry Young; and grandchildren, Shawn Bell and Dwayne Bell.
Survivors include her son, Pete Ballard (Paulette) of Cleveland; two daughters, Karen Bell (John) of Statesville, and Ginger Ballard of Cleveland; two brothers, Charles Young of Florida, and Gary Young (Debbie) of Belview, Fla; three sisters, Geneva "Bill" Peeler of Kannapolis, Carolyn Gantt (Joe) of Statesville, and Wanda Shaver of Weddington; eight grandchildren, Robbie Ballard (Helen) of Morganton, Drew Ballard (Heather) of Mocksville, Nathan Bailey (Farrah) of Jacksonville, Justin Ballard of Mocksville, Patricia Dupree (Kevin) of Spencer, Nick Anderson (Angel) of Statesville, Sam Anderson (Sophia) of Statesville, and Blaine Bell of Statesville and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 9, from 12 to 1 p.m., at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., in the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Garland Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to especially thank a special niece, Kathy Ballard for her love and help during this time of need. The family would also like the thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
