Naomi May Doughman (January 29, 1925- June 24, 2014) Naomi May Doughman , age 89 years, 4 months, 26 days, of Red Cloud Nebraska passed away Tuesday, June 24th, 2014 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Hastings, NE. Memorial Service to be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Congregational Bible Church in Red Cloud with Rev. Marshall Faulkenberry officiating. This will be followed by lunch and memories at the Red Cloud Community Center. Interment will be at the Guide Rock Cemetery. Naomi May Doughman, the daughter of Clarence Clark and Esther Maybelle (Britton) Miner was born January 29, 1925 at Guide Rock, Nebraska. Naomi grew up in Guide Rock, NE and graduated from Guide Rock High School with the class of 1943. On January 11, 1945 Naomi was united in marriage to Kenneth O. Doughman at Mankato, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters. Naomi spent her early married years as a farmer's wife on the family farm north of Guide Rock (1945-1959). Kenneth had a personal conversion to Jesus Christ and a calling to the ministry – they left the farm to pursue his calling. In the transition period between leaving the farm and beginning full-time ministry, Ken and Naomi owned and operated Coast-to-Coast Stores in Smith Center, KS and Concordia, KS. He trained at St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, then took a teaching position at Mokahum Indian Bible School, Cass Lake, MN (this was an outreach of the C&MA) from 1968 to 1971. Kenneth then took on full time clergy work with Naomi at his side as a devoted preacher's wife. She loved to teach as well as host and serve guests as well as shut-ins. And don't forget all those lovely solos and duets she sang in church. They served churches in NE, KS, IA and MN. They then ended their pastoral service right here at the Congregational Church of Red Cloud in 1990. Mom continued to serve her friends and neighbors as long as she was able – with food, rides, visitation, short recovery stays in her home, etc. Naomi was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance and the Congregational Christian Church of Red Cloud, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Doughman, her son K. Lynn Doughman, sister Wynonna McCorkle, brother-in-law Henry McCorkle, brother-in-law Orves Doughman, and sister-in-law Betty Doughman.
