Neal Alan Furr, 67, passed away at UNCRex in Raleigh, NC in December 17, 2017 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheri Garnett Furr of Raleigh, his Mother, Helen Houck Furr Smith of Chapel Hill, his brother Michael James Furr of Siler City, daughter Amanda Furr Jordan and her husband Jon Robert Jordan and three young grandchildren, Jackson Ryland Jordan, Eva Elizabeth Jordan and Robert Neal Jordan.

He worked for IBM in Research Triangle Park for 32 years. He was a board member of the Carolina Beach Music Awards, DJ, member of the Elks Club, beloved husband, son, father and "PaPa" to the grandchildren he adored. Nicknamed the "Souldog" in the beach music world, he was a friend to all DJs, individual artists and band members, producers, and shag club members. He won CBMA awards in 2016 for best online DJ and best online beach music program. He was a good friend and neighbor to many. A graduate of Chapel Hill High School and 1972 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Business Administration, he was an avid UNC basketball fan and loved watching his beloved Tar Heels win the NCAA basketball championship in 2016. Known for his dry wit and sense of humor, he will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to RexHealthCare Foundation, 2500 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 325 Raleigh NC 27607. A designation of "CICU in memory of Neal Furr" should be put on the check memo line.
