Nellie Irene Avery Mangrum, 96, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away, January 16, 2018 in Conroe, Texas. She was born in Mena, Arkansas on July 8, 1921 to Lon Avery and Magdalene Shoffner Avery.

She was married to Marvin L. Mangrum, Sr. for 50 years. Nell was a stay at home mom for Peggy, Marcia, Marvin and Karl. She had a passion for cooking, gardening, painting, loved music and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings save one, her husband Marvin L. Mangrum, Sr., son-in-law Jon W. Overhultz and grandson-in-law
Steven L. Owens.

Nell is survived by her brother Ed DeBerry Avery, her four children, Peggy Mangrum Overhultz, Marcia Lynn Mangrum, Marvin L. Mangrum, Jr. and wife Barbara Smith Mangrum, Karl R. Mangrum and wife Cindy Coufal Mangrum, granddaughters Karyn Lynn Overhultz Johnson, Laura Mangrum Brazil and husband John C. Brazil, Marsa Mangrum Owens, Karley Mangrum Guadalupe and husband Victor Guadalupe, Jillian Mangrum Lee and husband Johnathon Lee, grandsons Jon Alan Overhultz and wife Donna Lanier Overhultz, and Zachary Cullen Mangrum and wife Christine West Mangrum along with great grandchildren John Michael Brazil and wife Kristen Frische Brazil, Darren Brazil, Melissa Brazil Taylor and husband Aaron Taylor, Meghan Johnson, Lauren and Amber Overhultz, Clare, Meredith, and David Owens, Kitts and Kruz Guadalupe, Preslee, Cyrus and Hagan Mangrum, Raegan, Wyatt and Savannah Lee and great-great grandchildren Owen and Eden Taylor, Abigail Grace Brazil, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
