Nicholas L. Ruvolo, age 83, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away Friday, January 5th, 2018 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
Nick was born in Elmira, NY on November 20th 1934, the son of the late Rose (Franzese) and Casper Ruvolo. Nick had served in the US Army from 1954 until 1956. He had worked for both salt companies in Watkins Glen, worked in construction and retired after 20 years of service for St. Mary's of the Lake Church. Nick was a faithful member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church and was also a member of the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge 1546.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Lou (Conte) Ruvolo; daughters, Lori (Rocco) Zingaro of Webster and Linda Mizerak of Watkins Glen; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Stephanie) Mizerak of Long Island, David (Ned) Mizerak of Watkins Glen, Tyler (Nicole) Mizerak of Watkins Glen, and Matthew Lusardi of Rochester; Nick's beloved great grandchildren, Carter and Elizabeth Mizerak and soon to be Trenton Joseph Mizerak. Nick had a special bond with his brother-in-law Sante Conti, sister-in-law Sally (Murphy) Conti, and their daughter Shelly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Gregg (Gwen) Ruvolo, who was like a son to him, of Lakeland, Florida, and Josette (Mark) Saginario of Louisiana. In addition to his parents, Nick was predeceased by his brothers, Gregory and Richard Ruvolo and sister, Patricia Ruvolo.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, January 10th at the Haughey Wood Funeral Home, 119 5th St., Watkins Glen, NY. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 11th at 10am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be held at the convenience of his family. Memorial donations may be made in Nick's memory to St. Mary's of the Lake Church, PO Box 289, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
