NIta (Mur) Jones, 92 of Texarkana, TX passed away in a local hospital on May 8, 2017. She was born in Texarkana, TX on January 14, 1925. Ms. Jones was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and the Golden Angels which is a support group for surviving spouses of the United States Air Force WW II.

Preceded in death by two husbands Raymond A. Cooley and William (Kack) Jones. Lieutenant Cooley was presumed dead when Nita was three months pregnant. In 2008 his remains were found in Papau New Guinea where his wedding ring was still intact. Engraved on the ring was "To Nita With Love." In 1947 she married the love of her life Kack Jones. Mr. Jones was a P.O.W. for three years in Stalag 17-B in Austria. Nita and Kack were married for 49 years.

Survived by her only daughter and son-in-law Diana and David James of Texarkana; her grandchildren Shanna and Larry Killian of Hampton, AR., Shelly and Kyle Moss of Flower Mound, TX., Stacy and Ben Mayo of Texarkana; great grandchildren Zach Killian, Devin and Anthony Esch, Nick Moss and fiancée Leah Corley, Sydni Moss, David and Alexis Mayo and great-great grandson William Esch.

Mur enjoyed the outdoors and sports, especially tennis. In her early years she loved playing golf with her friends at Northridge Country Club. She loved being with family and attended all family events that she was able. Known for her strong faith, all of the grand kids have bibles given to them by Mur. Though sad at her passing the family is comforted by the fact that though absent from the body she is present with the Lord.

Funeral service will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Highland Park Baptist Church, 2401 Hazel Street, Texarkana, TX. with Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Burial to follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
