Norma Jean Bell Hetzel, 86, of Georgetown, Texas passed away in her sleep on Tuesday morning, October 4, 2017.

She was born January 18, 1931 to the late H.H. and Ivon Wood Bell in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Norma was the oldest of four children (one son and three daughters) born to H.H. and Ivon Bell. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas A&M College, where she was a member of Phi Sigma Chi sorority, Alpha Delta Gamma honor society, and was chosen sweetheart of Phi Lambda Chi fraternity. She received a Master of Education degree from the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, honorary education society.
Norma started her teaching career at the University of Arkansas and taught for many years in various Midland schools, including Sam Houston Elementary, Midland Lee High School, San Jacinto and Alamo, then finishing out her career at Hillander. After the loss of the love of her life, Bill Hetzel, She moved to Georgetown, Texas and became active in Kiwanis and Key Club. She would volunteer to read to elementary children at a nearby Elementary school.
On August 29, 1957 she married William Paul "Bill" Hetzel in Zurich, Switzerland. Bill & Norma had two sons, Allan and Stephen.

In 2011 Norma's first grandchild Jordan was born. In the last six years they have enjoyed spending countless hours together - bird watching, picking flowers, sitting in her beloved gardens and coloring.

Norma is survived by her son, Allan and his wife Caroline of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her son Stephen and his wife Kristy and daughter Jordan of Leander, Texas; her brother in law Isaac Wood; two nieces, Sandra Brazil and her husband Richard and Holly Trotta and her husband, Dave; two nephews Paul Wood and his wife Wendy and their daughters Madeline and Anna and Bradley Beshears; a great niece Melissa Shaw and husband Bart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hetzel; her parents, Ivon & H.H. Bell; her brother Buddy Bell; her two sister Vonna Wood and Paula Beshears.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held at 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Ellis Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, October 9, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Revered Tom Long officiating.
