Norman Bernard "Buddy" Feehan, Jr., 87 of Decatur, Alabama, died peacefully on January 14, 2018 at Floyd E. "Tut" Fan Veterans Home in Huntsville, Alabama due to complications from congestive heart failure.
He was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on November 22, 1930 to Norman Bernard Feehan , Sr. and Lilla Arborette Feehan and married the love of his life, Lenora Jane Hollis on December 18, 1954 in Auburn, Alabama.
Buddy graduated from Gulfport High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi before an enlistment in the U.S. Army. Buddy received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Auburn University and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Long Island University. He was a high school band director in Wetumpka, Alabama before a distinguished 30 year career in the U.S. Army, first as a bassoon/ saxophone player and director in the U.S. Army bands and then as a Chaplain's Administrator. Buddy served tours in both Vietnam and Korea, as well as assignments in Germany, France and across the Continental United States before retiring with honor as a Sargeant Major. He followed that with a 20 year career as a substance abuse counselor in the civil service at Fort Knox, Kentucky and as a DUI instructor/ counselor at the Kentucky Driving School.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lenora Jane Hollis Feehan; three children, Michael Feehan (Carla), Dean McRoberts (Greg) and Richard Feehan; three grandchildren, Julie Feehan, Nathan McRoberts (Tiffani) and Catherine Feehan.
Visitation for Mr. Feehan will be held at Central Park Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a celebration of life immediately following. The service will be officiated by Brother Jackie Kay and honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Corcoran, Jere Patterson, Brandon Cleggs-Burns, Greg McRoberts, Nathan McRoberts and Steve Schnell. A private interment will be held at a future date. Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
