Norman Edgar Wiles
Born in Portland, Oregon to Chet and Florence Wiles on May 11, 1932. He attended school in Portland through High School, then joined the Navy at age 19. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier US Sicily, and also played football for the Navy football team. While still in the Navy he met and married Marianne Gaby, also known as Sunshine. he was honorably discharged from the Navy in July of 1953 and they started their family that same year. they went back to Oregon where he attended Oregon State University for one year and played football during that year. While returning back to Oregon from Inglewood, California visiting in-laws some time in 1955, their car broke down in Bakersfield with no money and no job. He found some work and decided this is where they would stay. From 1957 - 1968 he loved to race motorcycles and race cars. He worked for Oilfield Construction for 30 years as a crane operator and was a member of Operating Engineers for 51 years. He retired in 1997 at age 65 and lived life to the fullest for several years; hunting, fishing and trips to Mexico to visit friends that lived there. His family loved and respected him very much. He had a way with the grandkids and great grandkids that put huge smiles on their faces.
He was able to be home as he wanted and was surrounded by family as he left this world here. He leaves behind a brother Dick (Donna); two sons; Steve and Brent; five grandchildren; Chet (Kori), Desra (Matt), Tamara (Josh), Anthony (Hali) and Crystal; and 11 great grandchildren to cherish great memories. Preceding him were his father and mother Chet and Florence; brother, Ralph; and two grandchildren, Ryan Lee and Chad Wiles. The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice and Around the Clock Companion Care for assisting him in his last few months.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:00 am at Mish Funeral Home located at 120 Minner Ave, Bakersfield, California 93308.

In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that a donation in his name be made to Children's Shriners Hospital.
