NORTHOP WILLIS was born in Blackville, South Carolina on August 14, 1911 to the late Willie and Emma Jane Willis. He was the fifth of twelve children. On Sunday, February 19, 2012, "Pop" as he was better known, transitioned to be with the Lord. Northop married his childhood sweetheart, Alberta Felder in 1935 and they moved to Chester, Pennsylvania in the late 1930's. They were married 45 years before his she preceded him in death. He worked for various construction companies as a skilled laborer, specializing in cement and brick masonry. In 1969, he joined Union Local #413, and worked with that local until he retired in 1984. Shortly after retirement, he moved to Carney's Point, New Jersey, where he resided until his transition. Pop always greeted family and friends with a smile and he made everyone feel welcomed. He was happy-go-lucky all of the time. He was always joking and teasing. Pop was always available for his family. He was very dependable, and always a man of his word. He had a special love for hunting, baseball and shooting pool. At the age of 99, he was still bragging about the pool games that he won. Pop was also a jack of all trades, if it was broken, he could fix it. You may not like the way it looked when he was finished with it, but it worked. Someone once asked Pop if he believed in Jesus Christ. His response was, "how do you think I lived this long". His motto was "treat people the way that you want to be treated", and he lived by that. Northop leaves to cherish his memories his beloved children, Eartha Reavely and Jerome (Jacqueline), one sister, Collena Willis, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren and Northop was preceded in death by his wife Alberta, nine brothers and one sister.
